This is a pretty shabby blog, and I hope you will please excuse its general ugly-duckling state at the moment, as well as the optimism inherent in assuming that this is just a stage. But shabby or not, it does provide a good platform for the first-ever direct, inter-twitteral, blog-based giveaway from awkward. And you, yes you, can now enter to win your very own extraordinarily soft, extraordinarily marigold-y marigold scarf, in either one of its two current incarnations:
Made from 100% kettle-dyed merino wool, these scarves are amazingly soft next to the skin. The bold color appealed to me from the moment I saw it, and makes for a nice marigold-petal look; sales of the scarves I make from this particular yarn--in all its shades, from darkest blue to bright marigold and pumpkin--indirectly support a women's collective in Uruguay.
In a lot of ways, this is just a shameless effort to send more unusually soft wool out into the world, sort of like what happens in public service films about the dangers of drugs.
How to Enter:
1. Comment here! Have a look at awkward; tell me which design you like best! Be sure to leave your contact info so I can get ahold of you in case you win.
2. For an additional chance, twitter about it with a link to this post! Come back and leave a comment linking to your tweet. (My Twitter address is @veryawkward. If you twitter about it more than once, I will be impressed and pleased, but it will not affect your chances.)
3. Blog about it, and give me a link to your blog entry! Then you will have a ridiculous number of chances. (3).
4. On February 15th, one winner will be chosen at random, using either a random number generator or the time-tested method of a small child and a hat.
In the meanwhile, if anything particularly strikes your fancy at awkward, mention this giveaway as you check out for free shipping on US orders. Thanks for reading, and for entering! Someday I shall learn how to write and tell you a funny story about a blog.
