The Very First Awkward Giveaway: Enter to Win a Marigold Scarf

This is a pretty shabby blog, and I hope you will please excuse its general ugly-duckling state at the moment, as well as the optimism inherent in assuming that this is just a stage. But shabby or not, it does provide a good platform for the first-ever direct, inter-twitteral, blog-based giveaway from awkward. And you, yes you, can now enter to win your very own extraordinarily soft, extraordinarily marigold-y marigold scarf, in either one of its two current incarnations:

The Original:

Made from 100% kettle-dyed merino wool, these scarves are amazingly soft next to the skin. The bold color appealed to me from the moment I saw it, and makes for a nice marigold-petal look; sales of the scarves I make from this particular yarn--in all its shades, from darkest blue to bright marigold and pumpkin--indirectly support a women's collective in Uruguay.

In a lot of ways, this is just a shameless effort to send more unusually soft wool out into the world, sort of like what happens in public service films about the dangers of drugs.

How to Enter:

1. Comment here! Have a look at awkward; tell me which design you like best! Be sure to leave your contact info so I can get ahold of you in case you win.

2. For an additional chance, twitter about it with a link to this post! Come back and leave a comment linking to your tweet. (My Twitter address is @veryawkward. If you twitter about it more than once, I will be impressed and pleased, but it will not affect your chances.)

3. Blog about it, and give me a link to your blog entry! Then you will have a ridiculous number of chances. (3).

4. On February 15th, one winner will be chosen at random, using either a random number generator or the time-tested method of a small child and a hat.

In the meanwhile, if anything particularly strikes your fancy at awkward, mention this giveaway as you check out for free shipping on US orders. Thanks for reading, and for entering! Someday I shall learn how to write and tell you a funny story about a blog.

My favourite design is definitely the buttoned cowl, such a clever versatile design - and of course as soon as I saw it I thought "why didn't I think of that?"

I have been in love with the 100% kettle dyed merino scarf that you have pictured in this blog. I have used it in countless treasuries. O.K., I could make one myself, but you know how it goes, "the cobblers kids have no shoes"....I would select this scarf. I love it!

Hi'ya! I am so excited!

Everything in your shop is dreamy. I used to like a forest scarf but I can't find it any-more. I finally whittled it down to two items but I can't choose between them.

Berries hand knit fraternal stripe glovelets

The Sunset Sea hand knit fingerless gloves

If I absolutely have to choose, I would take the Sunset gloves, I like the name better!

Thanks for this lovely give-away, Awkward!

(I can't make the links clickable, I forgot how to put code in comments, sorry.)

Sorry, I put the wrong tweet in the comments. Here is the corrected tweet.

I love your scarves. I would also like to see your fingerless gloves done in a lacey white or lacey black version. I have a singer friend who would wear those on stage. Love your big photo at the top of the page.

Ooh, this is tough! I love the scarves but I think my favorite item in the shop right now is birdnest hat no. 3.

I really love the swamp monster gloves. I like how they're not the same and it's neat that they're made from the same skein of cool!

I have to say it's a toss up between the violet scribble scarf and the leaves & moss scarf and the rusted & copper cowl. Can't decide. I crochet, not knit, but kind of am inspired by your pieces.
I did a retweet of your tweet about this as well.
